40 cylinders is a stocking decision, not a service call. The AIM Act phase-down keeps shrinking the HFC allowance, and the highest-GWP blends give up the most ground first. Operators reach this tier when the installed base is large, no capital is approved to replace it, and holding charge now looks easier than chasing it later. R-22 set the precedent: US production ended, the machines kept running.

Sort the receiving end before you order. Confirm how the cylinders will arrive and what handling you will have on site, because 1000 lb is not a hand-carry. Store them upright and secured, ventilated, out of direct sun and away from heat, caps on when nothing is connected. Ask the local fire official what the quantity requires. Take the safety classification off the cylinder label and the safety data sheet, not off the last blend you ran. And watch the inventory: stock forgotten in a corner is stock paid for twice.

Supermarket racks, display cases, walk-ins, cold stores and transport refrigeration are where this gas goes, into kit that mostly left the factory on R-404A or R-507. Before converting a machine, check the compressor manufacturer's retrofit guidance and what it says about oil. Charge liquid every time, top-ups included, or the blend fractionates and you finish up running something else. Zeotropic blends have glide, so work superheat and subcooling off dew and bubble points and expect to retune the valve.
