US production of R-22 ended under the phase-out, so everything on the market is pre-ban or reclaimed stock and the supply only tightens. That leaves two honest options for equipment still charged with it: buy service gas while it exists, or convert to one of the replacement blends formulated to run on the mineral oil already in the compressor. Both are here. Which is cheaper depends on how much life the equipment has left and whether it leaks.
