Frequently asked questions
Certification, delivery, returns and handling. If the answer you need is not here, ask us — we would rather answer before you order than after.
Buying
- Do I need EPA certification to buy refrigerant here?
- For most refrigerants, yes. Federal regulation restricts their sale to Section 608 certified technicians, Section 609 certified technicians for vehicle air conditioning, authorised representatives of a certified technician, and wholesalers buying for resale. We do not collect certificates at checkout, so ordering is your confirmation that you qualify. Small self-sealing cans for vehicle A/C, cleaners and gauges are not restricted in the same way. If you are unsure, ask us before you order.
- Is the refrigerant virgin or reclaimed?
- Whichever the product page says. Where a cylinder is virgin, reclaimed or factory sealed, the title and the specification table state it — we do not leave it to be assumed. Reclaimed refrigerant is recovered gas reprocessed to purity specification; it does the same job, and on phase-down-affected refrigerants it is often the only supply there is.
- Can I mix two refrigerants, or top up one with another?
- No. A mixture has none of the published properties of either gas, so no pressure–temperature chart describes what is in the system and no reading you take from it means anything. If a system has been cross-charged it needs recovering and recharging, not topping up.
- How do I know which service fitting I need?
- Check the specification table on the product page. Where the supplier states a fitting we list it — 1/4 ACME is the usual HVAC connection and 1/2 ACME the automotive one, and they do not interchange without an adapter. If the fitting is not listed, it was not stated, and you should ask us rather than assume.
Shipping
- How much is shipping?
- Nothing. Shipping is free on every order within the United States, with no minimum order value.
- How long will my order take?
- Dispatch takes 1 business day (Mon–Fri) and transit is 1–3 business days (Mon–Fri). Both are business days. Pallets and bulk packs move as freight rather than parcel, so the carrier will call to arrange a delivery appointment.
- Why does the carrier's weight differ from the weight on the page?
- The weight we list is the product's own shipping weight — the refrigerant plus the cylinder. The carrier weighs the whole consignment including outer packaging and pallet. Both are correct; they are measuring different things.
- Can I ship to more than one address on one order?
- No. One order goes to one address. For several sites, place a separate order for each — it keeps tracking clear and stops a problem at one address holding up the rest.
- Do you ship outside the United States?
- No. We ship within the United States only, and we cannot deliver to a freight forwarder on your behalf.
After you order
- Can I return refrigerant I did not use?
- Only if the cylinder is unopened and still factory sealed — then you have 90 days from delivery. Once a cylinder has been opened or connected to a system we cannot take it back: there is no way to verify what is in it or what it has been exposed to, and reselling gas of unknown provenance is not something we will do.
- My cylinder arrived damaged. What now?
- Contact us with your order number and a photograph. In most cases we will not ask you to ship it back — we will send a replacement or refund you in full. Check deliveries within 72 hours of arrival, which is the window in which a transit claim can still be proven.
- How long does a refund take?
- Once an approved return reaches us we inspect it within 72 hours and refund within 7 business days, to the original payment method. There is no restocking fee.
- What does the warranty cover?
- 30-day defect & leak replacement: a leaking or damaged valve, a cylinder that will not hold pressure, the wrong refrigerant or the wrong fill weight, and manufacturing defects in accessories. It does not cover refrigerant that has been used, damage from handling or storage after delivery, or the performance of the equipment the gas is charged into.
