- 30-day defect & leak replacement — a leaking or damaged valve, a cylinder that will not hold pressure, or the wrong refrigerant or fill weight. Inspect within 72 hours of delivery.
Product details
Five cylinders at 22 lb each, 110 lb of R-454B in total. The blend is R-32 and R-1234yf: mildly flammable, low toxicity. It charges new residential and light commercial splits, heat pumps, packaged units and rooftops listed for a mildly flammable charge. Equipment makers reached for it as newly built air conditioning gear in several sectors moved off R-410A, so more of what you meet in the field takes this charge.
Not a drop-in for an older R-410A system: that equipment was never built around a flammable charge. Charge this one as liquid. The blend carries some glide, so drawing vapour off the cylinder shifts what stays behind — meter liquid in, throttle at the gauge set, and weigh the charge rather than topping off by pressure. Pressures sit in the same class as R-410A, so high-pressure hoses, gauges and recovery gear want a rating for mildly flammable refrigerants, plus the usual POE discipline.
Recover into dedicated cylinders and never cross-fill — a contaminated blend cannot be put right in the field. Cylinders stay upright and secured, out of direct sun, clear of ignition sources. Mildly flammable refrigerants also carry storage and handling rules of their own, so confirm what applies at your premises. Field lineage here runs R-22, whose US production has ended, then R-410A, and now this.
